J.R. Gomez — “He Tratado de Olvidarte”
“We’re going to go a little bit more Conjunto progressive, I guess you can call it that,” Gomez said. “Think about back in the days withDavid Lee (Garza)andEmilio (Navaira)or even with Jay (Perez), it was accordion and sax. We still got a little bit of Conjunto in there, of course. We got some songs that are straight up Conjunto, as well as some catchy cumbias and we got a drinking song on there too. It’s going to be a little more progressive than the last album.”
Fans can expect a new cumbia from Gomez within the next few weeks as the second single from the upcoming album, a song co-written by Gomez and his father,Lee Gomez.
