Saba and No ID have released their highly anticipated collaborative album, and it's stacked with special guests.
On Tuesday, March 18, the Chicago natives dropped their new joint LP From the Private Collection of Saba and No ID via ARTium Recordings/Pivot Gang Records, LLC. Their latest project is comprised of 15 fresh tracks featuring collaborations with Smino, Kelly Rowland, Raphael Saadiq, BJ The Chicago Kid, Eryn Allen Kane, MFnMelo, Jordan Ward and more. The album started off as a mixtape with plenty of demos to consider. Although they thought they were done after they reconstructed the album, Saba and No ID switched things up after the Pivot Gang leader lost his uncle.
“He’s the person who made me fall in love with hip-hop,” Saba said about his uncle's death in a statement. “It made me want to re-approach things; I had to have a lot of conversations with myself that I hadn’t had to have in a long time.”
Saba and No ID have spent the past few years building an incredible rapport in the studio. They dropped their first pair of collaborative songs, "hue_man nature" and "Back in Office," in 2023. A year later, the duo delivered the first single from their album "head.rap" featuring Madison McFerrin, Ogi and Jordan Ward. They followed up up with "How To Impress God" and shared "Woes of the World" last month. In between that time, the 30-year-old MC and the experienced producer have worked to make their respective legacies even stronger.
“To be able to have a real career, you have to reinvent your thought process, reinvent your perspective,” No ID explained. “And you can’t do it sitting on the mountaintop, yelling about what you did. You think you know—and then everything changes.”
