Gwyneth Paltrow has had her share of public relationships with fellow celebrities, but there is one past romance that she compared to dating a member of the royal family in terms of publicity.
In a new April cover story with Vanity Fair published Tuesday (March 18), the Goop founder opened up about her past relationship with Brad Pitt. The pair met and sparked a romance while filming the 1994 film Legends of the Fall, later going on to star together in the film Se7en the following year. They dated for around two years before getting engaged in December 1996, though they called it quits six months later, per People.
The Royal Tenenbaums actress called her ex "a very intriguing character," while speaking on the continued interest in their relationship, even decades after it ended.
"It's like having dated, I don't know, Prince William or something," she said. "That's always going to come up."
Both Paltrow and Pitt moved on with new partners following their split. Paltrow married Coldplay's Chris Martin and welcomed two kids together, daughter Apple and son Moses, before "consciously uncoupling." She later married current husband Brad Falchuk in 2018.
Pitt married Jennifer Aniston in 2000 and they were together before splitting five years later. He then moved on with Mr. & Mrs. Smith costar Angelina Jolie, dating for nine years and tying the knot in 2014 before they ended their relationship two years later. The Fight Club actor has reportedly been dating jewelry designer Ines de Ramon since 2022.
