Have you ever wondered how much the cast members of Saturday Night Live get paid? No need to worry — Pete Davidson is on the case!
The SNL alum shared some insight into just how much the cast makes in a new Instagram video shared by New York Magazine, and it's likely less than you might be thinking. After being asked what his "biggest indulgence" was after receiving his first paycheck from the show, Davidson hilariously shut down any ideas of extravagance and wealth, per People.
"Do you guys know what they pay us? It's like three grand an episode!" he said. With around 20 episode per season, that translates to about $60,000 for the entire season, which doesn't leave much room for big purchases with the cost of living in New York City.
So how did he actually spend his first paycheck?
"I think I got dinner," he quipped.
Fellow SNL alum Jason Sudeikis, who served as a writer for two years and a cast member for nine, echoed the sentiment, joking that his salary during his first year was just enough to survive in NYC.
"I mean you don't really make enough money to make big purchases," he said. "So, I think New York rent was probably the biggest purchase I made after writing on SNL the first year."
Other common purchases former SNL stars made with their first paycheck include furniture (Seth Meyers, James Austin Johnson and Cheri Oteri) and luxurious clothing and accessories (Sarah Silverman, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Bowen Yang).
