Young Thug has accepted a plea deal that will end his role in the ongoing YSL RICO trial.

On Thursday afternoon, October 31, the Atlanta native entered the courtroom after he wrapped up negotiations for a plea agreement. He was reportedly in talks to accept a non-negotiated plea, which means Judge Paige Whitaker will make the final decision on his sentence. Young Thug, born Jeffrey Williams, pleaded guilty to six charges from the RICO indictment including firearm possession and participation in criminal street gang activity, and pleaded no contest to racketeering and leading a criminal street gang.

Young Thug's plea agreement signals a potential end to the longest-running trial in Georgia's history. The rapper was arrested in May 2022 with 27 others who were named in the original 56-count indictment. He was denied bail and was forced to await trial behind bars. Jury selection began in January 2023 and lasted for 10 months before the trial began last November. The trial ran for nearly a year due to several setbacks and delays.

After Young Thug entered his plea, the state recommended for the rapper to be sentenced to 45 years including 25 years in prison and 20 years on probation. As of this report, Judge Whitaker is still deliberating on his sentence. His plea deal comes several days after other codefendants in the case also pleaded guilty.
