Tejano All-Stars kickoff Official Latino Inaugural 2021 event

A group of Tejano music all-stars kicked off the Official Latino Inaugural 2021: Inheritance, Resilience & Promise celebration with a video featuring a performance of “America The Beautiful: A Salute to the Latino Imprint.”

Tejano stars includingStefani Montiel,Joe Posada,Shelly Lares,David Marez,Chente Barrera,DJ Kane,Art Tigerina,Mark Ledesma,Mario Ortiz, members ofLA 45andMariachi Azteca de Americawere featured in the video performance during the virtual event hosted by actress, activist, and Texas nativeEva Longoriathat was streamed online and shown on various television networks.

“I can’t explain the amount of emotion I felt watching us be part of such an amazing historical event,” Lares shared via social media. “I’m completely honored beyond words. Tonight is about looking towards better days. That our Tejano Culture was represented and represented WELL! We deserve that! I love my Tejano brothers and sisters, I love Tejano music and I LOVE MY COUNTRY!!”

The song was produced, arranged, mixed, and mastered by Mario Ortiz of Studio 830 in San Antonio, Texas. Acclaimed producer and musician Gabriel Zavala created and edited the music video.

“The Tejano genre has phenomenal vocalists and this patriotic song provided a meaningful opportunity to showcase just how diverse of talented artists we have in the industry,” said Ortiz. “They crushed it!”

The virtual event featured appearances by Edward James Olmos, John Leguizamo, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Rita Moreno, Becky G, Ivy Queen, Former Boston Red Sox David Ortiz aka Big Papi, Erik Rivera, Ana Navarro-Cárdenas, and Nicholas Gonzalez.Musical performances included:

The hour-long special was focused on telling the stories of Latino contributions to society and stories that touch on the Latino American narrative in the United States, its history and challenges, and the promise for a better tomorrow. The show honored members of Latino communities who kept the country running during the pandemic as members of our front line and essential workforce.

The program was co-hosted by 52 of the country’s largest and most influential Latino organizations, who joined together to develop the inaugural event under the banner of Latinos Unidos. It acknowledged the Latino voters who showed up in record numbers at the polls, honored the communities they come from, and showcased the historic achievements and proud representation displayed by Latino communities across the nation during this historic moment.
