Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Reportedly Insisted Netflix End 'The Crown'

The highly anticipated fourth season of The Crown dropped on Netflix recently. With the arrival of Princess Diana, The Crown is now covering more modern royal history. Fans of the show, as well as the Royal Family IRL, have started to wonder if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's experience with The Firm will be portrayed on the show—especially after the couple signed a lucrative deal with Netflix this year.

According to a new report from The Mirror, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex leveraged their deal to make demands about the future of the popular historical drama. They reportedly insisted that The Crown come to an end before their own era as prominent members of the Royal Family.

After these reports surfaced, royal biographer Angela Levin, the author of the 2018 biography Harry: Conversations with the Prince, described Harry and Meghan's Netflix deal as "terrible error," especially for Harry. Levin claims The Crown is "ridiculing his father, his mother and his grandmother," according to The Mirror. Levin even claims Harry told her just two years ago that the royals were "all absolutely watching everything" on The Crown, however, he was "going to insist it stops before it reaches me."

"I think the way that he has left the Royal Family, the way he did it, and he’s changed. He’s almost unrecognizable from Prince Harry I spent a lot of time with," Levin continued. "But I think, you know, Meghan is desperate to earn lots of money and Netflix offered them something. I think they’re being naive as they have been about lots of things in that they don’t realize that a big company like Netflix is going to want its pint of blood. They’re going to delve in and get a lot of information that will absolutely decry the Royal Family."

The Crown's creator Peter Morgan has already nixed the idea of covering the modern royals while chatting with Town & Country. "The Meghan and Harry story is nowhere near over yet," Morgan said. "And I’m happy that I’m never going to write it."
